I feel like a pullet about to lay her first egg and a golden one at that. Well, I am no spring chicken but this chick is about to hatch.

The idea of this blog is a culmination of a life time of making order through our daily lives and what connects us through individual lives, families, villages, boroughs, townships, cities, regions, countries, continents, cultures, the whole abundant universe. There are many things that bring humanity together and food seems to be one of the great equalizers. That human connection makes my heart sing. I was hoping to go into some deep analytical thought about all of this but I realized I could spend a lifetime going into depth about all of the thoughts and ideas I have about food, culture and what makes us human. (If you are chomping at the bit to get into this line of thinking I might suggest a book, which was personally quite influential, Catching Fire, How Cooking Made Us Human by Richard Wrangham.) I decided that is just what I will do but step by baby step, day after day of showering and blogging and being human.

Really when it comes down to it I am on an adventure and Global Kitchen Gear is guiding that path. This endeavor has been a long time coming, a lifetime of learning and loving and making my way through the world. My highest hope is for this to be a place where we can all join in, tell our tales and make some great food from all around the world.

Although this following video is part of an advertisement, I think it speaks volumes to my sensibility and my direction with this blog.

Whew….well, it might not be a golden post and I sure am wobbly but I think I just busted my way through. And for those of you still here with me, a humble hello and welcome. Let’s do some trekking together.
